Very good vegetarian food with a view, play corner and playground
Located in the heart of the beautiful Jardim Duque da Terceira park in the centre of Angra do Heroísmo, it offers delicious vegetarian dishes and organic and regional pastries. Casa do Jardim belongs to the BioAzorica cooperative, which also runs an organic shop in Praia da Vitória and supplies the entire island with organic vegetable crates.
A shining park full of palm trees,
Tree ferns and camellias,
it smells of eucalyptus, hibiscus and magnolias.
Birds chirp all around,
and somewhere you hear a seagull screaming
and enthusiastic children’s voices.
The restaurant, which has been open since 2008, presents itself in a modern living room atmosphere with large windows overlooking the beautiful park and a shelf full of pretty decorative items, handicrafts and gourmet products. It is open during the day, and in summer it has a nice terrace close to the playground. Inside there is a play corner with a Maltafel.
On Saturday, a delicious brunch buffet is set up with very special, high-quality dishes. However, these are somewhat minimally seasoned, although you can cope with that with in terms of taste in view of the first-class ingredients. There are also dishes especially for children. Our kids decided for Seitan nuggets, which unfortunately were not prepared on the basis of the wonderful Seitan that is available in almost every organic shop in Portugal, but on a rather dry, imported variant.
We enjoyed the afternoon in the Casa do Jardim very much, and before our meal, we visited the nice playground right beside it. After a coffee, we comfortably walked along the splendid streets of Angras down to the city beach.
Even on the 1 November, we played with our children on the beach in the most beautiful sunshine. We even had a bit of fun in the water, and it seemed like a cosy summer day to us. If you are lucky and the weather is not determined by tropical storms, you can also enjoy a wonderful family holiday on Terceira in the autumn.
